That’s how defense attorney Steven Miears summarized his closing statement to the jury Wednesday in the verdict phase of the capital murder trial of 27-year-old Kosoul Chanthakoummane. The jury reached a verdict of guilty after 31 minutes of deliberation.
The jury will move into the punishment phase of Chanthakoummane’s trial at 9 a.m. today in 380th District Court. They can sentence him to life without parole or death. The Collin County District Attorney’s Office is seeking the death penalty, according to Collin County court records. Full story..
