McKINNEY – The McKinney City Council voted 4-3 Tuesday to pass a strict anti-smoking ordinance that bans smoking in restaurants, office buildings and retail stores.
McKinney joins a growing number of North Texas cities, including Frisco and Plano, to recently adopt ordinances that crack down on smoking.
In McKinney, existing businesses and those that open before Dec. 31 will have until September 2008 to comply with the new restrictions. Businesses that open after Jan. 1, 2008, must comply immediately.
