McKinney City Council will consider adopting a tax rate of 58.5 cents per $100 property valuation at the regular monthly council meeting tonight. The rate is 1/4 cent per $100 valuation lower than the current 58.8-cent rate.
The council discussed lowering the tax rate Monday at its regular council workshop. The council also discussed removing the following positions from the 2007-08 budget due to the proposed lower tax rate: a development review planner with an annual salary of $66,172; an internal auditor with an annual salary of $93,124; and parks and recreation maintenance assistant with an annual salary of least $40,000.
